Amur Khamis Al-Rashdi
B. Sc. Student
I am from a little town called Fanja in Sultanate of Oman. When I was in my junior year of high school, I enjoyed learning organic chemistry, and I was fascinated by its complexity. So, in the summer before my senior year, I built a mini-lab at home and performed many fun experiments while learning the chemistry behind them. After graduating from high school, I was selected to receive a highly competitive scholarship to pursue a bachelor's degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at NC State. I chose chemical engineering rather than chemistry because I wanted to focus more on the engineering applications than pure chemistry. I enjoy going outdoors, especially hiking and since the US has wonderful landscapes I love going on road-trips and visiting national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon.
In the Abolhasani group, I am currently working on the continuous flow synthesis of photocatalysts for green fuel production.
