Venkat Sashank Punati
Ph.D. Student
I was born and raised in India. I have always been keen on bringing science towards sustainability, which was possible through chemical engineering, and I was fascinated by the interesting research outcomes. I completed my undergraduate studies at the National Institute of Technology Raipur, with chemical engineering as my major. Throughout the course of my B.Sc. studies and various internships, I completed several projects related to diverse fields. I won a national poster presentation prize (SCHEMCON) for presenting a poster on Water treatment using activated carbon nanoparticles and mesopaper. As a part of my B.Sc. degree, I studied the behavior of copper sulfide nanoparticles under varying temperatures and pH. I worked on the development of biodegradable transformer oil replacing the currently used mineral oil. Working on these projects made me realize the depth of chemical engineering and triggered a spark to pursue graduate studies at NCSU.
Currently, in the Abolhasani lab, I am currently working on continuous nanomanufacturing of advanced functional materials using reconfigurable flow reactors.
